At Miharu, our journey is rooted in the creation of exquisite Dhokra jewellery, a heritage craft that symbolizes the rich cultural tapestry of India. A few years ago, we embarked on a new path, incorporating the intricate Patwa craft into our designs. This decision marked the beginning of a remarkable journey of artistic fusion that led us to the remote village of Parulia, where we found inspiration in the most unexpected place—a group of women artisans eager to work, learn, and grow.
Our visit to Parulia was nothing short of transformative. The passion and willingness of these women to embrace new skills and challenges were truly inspiring. We recognized their potential and knew that a collaborative approach would not only empower them but also elevate the quality of our handcrafted jewellery.
To bring this vision to life, we developed a collaborative system. We started by sending the women packed samples, raw materials, and Dhokra pieces. Their task was to meticulously recreate our designs, returning the finished pieces along with any leftover materials for efficient recycling. This process not only ensured high quality but also instilled a deep sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
To enable this system, our team conducted an intensive 4-day training program with the women artisans. Each day was divided into focused 4-hour workshops, designed to maximize their existing skills while introducing new techniques. After the training, we sent high-quality samples from our office to the village. The women artisans, with their newfound expertise, returned products that matched the quality you'd expect from a high-end couture house. It was an opportunity waiting to be unleashed, and they exceeded all expectations.
This collaborative effort is just the beginning of our journey in blending traditional crafts with contemporary design, empowering communities, and creating luxury jewellery that tells a story of heritage, craftsmanship, and social impact.
